What Is a Forensic Lawyer?

Benefits of Choosing an ACS Forensic Lawyer-Scientist to Defend You

Attorney Chris Hesse is one of the few lawyers in the entire country—and the only lawyer in West Texas—who has earned the ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist Designation. As a forensic lawyer, he has gained in-depth understanding of the chemistry behind blood alcohol content testing and drug testing, and how those processes impact criminal cases.

Because of this rare expertise, Attorney Chris Hesse brings invaluable skills to the table, giving his clients a significant edge in their case.

The ACS Forensic Chromatology Program

The American Chemistry Society (ACS) is the world’s largest scientific society. Their mission is to “improve people’s lives through the transforming power of chemistry.” The ACS Education Committee developed the forensic chromatology program to equip lawyers to “expose invalidated or non-validated science” in the courtroom in order to promote true justice.

As a highly-rated Avvo lawyer with extensive trial experience, Attorney Hesse’s forensic training makes him even more of a formidable force in the courtroom.

To receive the forensic lawyer title, an attorney must complete 140 hours of lab experience and rigorous chromatography training. He or she must also pass a final proficiency and knowledge exam. Attorney Chris Hesse is proud to be able to use his knowledge to serve his clients in such a unique and valuable way.

“I hired Chris Hesse after my 15 year old was charged with aggregated assault with a deadly weapon (2nd degree felony). Chris was very knowledgeable and kept in contact with us about the case. He was able to get the case dismissed without seeing a judge. The entire family is so relieved and happy with the results. I would definitely hire him again. So pleased.”

  • I would highly recommend him.

“I am moving from Chicago to Amarillo and I was in search of a lawyer who could help me get an occupational driver's license. I called at least 10 law firms in Amarillo and Mr. Hess was the only one who knew what I was talking about transferring in from another state with a suspended license and how to assist me in getting a occupational driver's license. Mr. Hess is professional, takes the time to explain the process, and gets the job done efficiently. I would highly recommend him.”

  • “Chris worked very hard for me to get the resuts we did. He will bend over backwards and fight til the end win or loose. He is very easy to talk to and confide in. He gave me the best advice possible during my case. In the end he went above and beyond for me and I am forever grateful.”

  • 1st Degree Felony Case, Dismissed

“My then 21-year old son was facing a possible 5 to 99-year sentence in state prison. Mr. Hesse was his court-appointed attorney in Fort Bend County, but you would not have known it, given the passion he provided to this case. This case lasted 3 1/2 years, thru 1 mistrial in 2015 before Mr. Hesse succeeded in having the case dismissed, a week ago today. I believe he was truly driven to accomplish the best possible outcome for my son. Given the obstacles he encountered with this case, many other attorney's might have given up and passed this case to someone else, but he did not. Chris Hesse is the type of attorney you want on your side when you're fighting to prove your innocence. My son and family will never forget what he did for us. As an attorney he is knowledgeable, caring, respectful and committed.”
